Roseland, N.J. – July 19, 2011 – Today, MTV debuted the Jersey Shore Season 4 trailer featuring brawls, bros, babes and beats courtesy of Garden State natives, Cash Cash.

The tracks, “Naughty or Nice” and “Jersey Girl” – which pays homage to dirty Jersey staples including the boardwalk, diners, the iconic tune “Livin’ on a Prayer” by fellow N.J. natives Bon Jovi, noteworthy hair, and of course, Bruce Springsteen- appear on Cash Cash’s recently released LOVE OR LUST. The band (Jean Paul Makhlouf – vocals, Alex Makhlouf – keyboards, Sam Frisch – bass/guitar, and Anthony Villacari – drums) produced, recorded, mixed and mastered LOVE OR LUST in their Roseland, N.J. home studio.

LOVE OR LUST is released independently in the U.S. and through Twilight Records in Japan, where Cash Cash is currently on tour.

Tracks from LOVE OR LUST have also been featured on Showtime’s The Real L Word and licensed to NBC’s upcoming show Fashion Star.

Today Cash Cash release their much-anticipated remix of “Sexin’ on the Dance Floor,” featuring a cameo from everyone’s favorite “Beauty Killer,” Jeffree Star. “We’ve been friends with Jeffree Star for years and always wanted to do something together,” tells vocalist Jean Paul Makhlouf. “When we were mixing our record we thought he would be perfect to sing a part on ‘Sexin’ on the Dance Floor!’ The vibe just felt really right.”

Jeffree’s tongue-in-cheek (and probably elsewhere) vignette mocks online fame. The self-proclaimed “Queen of the Internet” pokes fun at the Internet’s ironic princess, Rebecca Black, before launching into his trademark raunchy sing-rap.

The track embodies the more lascivious half of the running theme of the band’s new alum, LOVE OR LUST, on which the original version of “Sexin’ on the Dancefloor” appears.

Makhlouf and his bandmates (Alex Makhlouf – keyboards, Sam Frisch – bass/guitar, and Anthony Villacari – drums) loved the end result of their collaboration with Star so much that the band plan to continue. “We’re working on producing a song for Jeffree,” reveals Jean Paul. “We’re really excited to finish that and possibly shoot a video for ‘Sexin’ On the Dance Floor’ with Jeffree in it!”

Roseland, N.J. – April 19, 2011 - Like all great players, Cash Cash’s sophomore album LOVE OR LUST, released today, scores with listeners, steals their hearts and leaves them lusting for more.

Led by AOL Radio-featured and iTunes dance charting single “Victim of Love,” LOVE OR LUST shows Cash Cash (Alex Makhlouf – keyboards, Sam Frisch – bass/guitar, and Anthony Villacari – drums) coming of age lyrically while maintaining the infectious youthful energy that already has fans from as far as Britain and Brazil taking it to the floor.

“LOVE OR LUST has the classic sound of Cash Cash with a lot more synths and way beefier beats,” vocalist Jean Paul Makhlouf explains. ”Overall, it just bumps way harder than anything we’ve ever done.”

The band produced, recorded, mixed and mastered LOVE OR LUST in their Roseland, N.J. home studio. “Just like our old records, we self-produced, recorded, mixed and mastered this whole CD ourselves,” Jean Paul says. “We got to do everything that we wanted with it with no limitations.” LOVE OR LUST is released independently in the U.S. and through Twilight Records in Japan, where Cash Cash will be touring this summer.

Tracks like “Sexin’ On The Dance Floor,” which features Villacari’s sister “ADG,” take the party from the bedroom to the dance floor, while confessional “I Have One Regret” presents a serious side–and some sweet vengeance. “The album contains songs about love, hate, lust, and obsession,” Jean Paul says. “Too much of any of them will probably end your relationship and drive you insane, but too little of any of them will most likely do the same. Love without lust or small amounts of obsession gets stale.”

Good thing the album combines all of those steamy, sweet and seething sentiments within its tight 10 tracks. Oakland, C.A.—April 11, 2011— Once again pushing the creative boundaries of music video production, Maniac has released the video for “Thank Each Mistake,” illustrated completely using the Brushes app for iPad.

“I heard about it through Jorge Colombo’s New Yorker covers, but for me, the best media for this technique wasn’t print, but video,” states Shawn Harris, who co-fronts the band with Jake Grigg. He continues, “by taking advantage of the actions playback feature, and by using a brushes viewer application for my Mac, I found I could export my painting as a Quicktime movie. The app isn’t designed for animation, but the playback feature, which records each brush-stroke as a separate frame, lends itself to a coarse morphy style of stop-motion finger-painting, if you can manage to be deliberate enough about not lifting your finger from the painting.”

“Band You Need To Know” Maniac Announces SXSW Alt Press Showcase

Oakland, C.A.—March 17, 2011- Hundreds of bands will be playing SXSW this year, but only one is fronted by two indie music influencers and that’s cross-continental pop-rock act, Maniac. Co-frontmen Shawn Harris and Jake Grigg will perform at Alternative Press magazine’s showcase on Saturday, March 19 (doors are at noon and word has it, the early bird gets the worm).

The publication names Maniac as one of the 100 Bands You Need to Know 2011 in its April issue, on newsstands now. In a full-page feature, Alternative Press describes Maniac’s debut full-length, MANIA, as “tight, vocal harmony-rich songs intended to explore the very basic meaning on the word ‘pop’- but not in a Top 40 focus-group sort of way.”

Harris and Grigg share vocal and on-record instrumental duties in Maniac, however, the band consists of five members live, including Vanessa Harris (Shawn’s sister) on keyboard and vocals. Maniac spent the past year recording and touring in Australia, in support of its Extended Play EP. The sales of the EP and Maniac’s self-produced merch funded Grigg’s return to the States for SXSW.

Maniac Shoots Music Video over iChat, on Two Continents, for $0.

Oakland, C.A.—March 14, 2011- Maniac’s co-frontmen Shawn Harris and Jake Grigg have unveiled the music video for “3 Kings Day,” which was filmed on two continents with a $0 budget. The indie-pop duo simultaneously shot their scenes from home- Harris resides in Oakland, California and Grigg in New South Wales, Australia. The production consisted of the following:

Camera Operators: Two MacBooks. The computers’ built-in iSight cameras, and communication courtesy of iChat.

Gaffer/Lighting Technicians: Fluorescent bulbs in the ceiling

Crew: One-another, an apple-catapult, and some ladders and chairs to hold props at arm-level

“We’ve been using this technology since we first started writing together– so we thought, why not just record it?,” states Harris. “It seems improbable that we could start a group with an ocean between us; only five years ago, it probably would have been impossible. The video kind of tells that story—it shows how easy it is to forget, these days, that we’re not in the same room– or even in the same country!”

Maniac Celebrates Life and Its Complications on Debut Full-Length

Produced by Maniac and Matt Radosevich (30 Seconds to Mars, The All American Rejects and the Matches), MANIA features 11 tracks recorded in America and Australia. The album’s first single, “Give It Up,” was added to Australia’s hit station Triple J this summer.

Maniac explore the highs and lows of life and love through a sound that’s got both a retro vibe but a thoroughly modern, unique twist.

Presenting for one-night only, artists and musicians Shawn Harris, Scott Allbright and Dave Smallen join for BYPRODUCTS, a visual exhibition with musical performances hosted by Autobody Fine Art Gallery. As solo artists and musical collaborators native to the East Bay area, they have sculpted and shaped Oakland’s independent music scene for years. Saturday, December 18th will be their first public display of visual work in the Bay Area, as they turn the artistic obsessions, grafted impulses and lyrical expressions already familiar to fans into entwined, tangible forms.

Concurrent with the musical success in his former band, The Matches, and his new project, Maniac, Shawn Harris has established himself as a realized and conceptually vivid artist. In his recent works, a key element is the concept of androgyny as moderation. The balance of the masculine and feminine to create images of subjects which elevate above both. This imagery is projected upon his subjects in a series that seeks to aggrandize the dreamers and demigods of the artist’s life. Often using his own bandmates and friends for muses, their magnetic essence is isolated, de-gendered, and catapulted into manifestations of soon-realized renown. Broken guitar strings strike and shape definition and form through broad, unfocused strokes, producing images that forecast the timelessness of icons upon subjects who are actively defining their own time.

The pair create album art, web sites, music videos, illustrations, posters and apparel for an impressive client list including labels Sony BMG, Island and Universal, in addition to bands such as She & Him, Biffy Clyro and Bayside.

Dave Smallen’s work ethic in music ostensibly shares little in common with the process by which he has handcrafted a series of intricately carved and exquisitely expressive woodcuts and hand-inked prints. After a dogged national touring scheduling, writing, recording and performing two albums’ worth of acclaimed songs both solo and with his former band, Streets to Nowhere, the tactile, meditative process involved in hand-printing each design seems to come as necessary relief from constant shift of major music promotion. Sometimes political, sometimes abstract, each piece comes off the heals of the events, whimsy or amusement that finds the artist during his process. However, as titles of prints are reflected in the titles of his songs and vice-versa, it is clear that both mediums become inseparable as statements of the same artist.

Scott Allbright (of Poor Bailey) brings a powerful, dedicated force to his creations bordering on (if not personifying) obsession. Having recently completed The October Project, a massive musical undertaking releasing a song every day in the month of October, the exhausting fixation on brutal periods of creative work typifies this artist’s process. On exhibition will be his series of vast, painstakingly detailed hand-drawn mazes, all of which represent hundreds of hours of concentrated illustration. Though comprised of pathways no more than a few millimeters wide, the mazes expand and sprawl over several square feet, taking on a beautiful and uniquely irreproducible texture at large. Moving compulsively through ever-more creative projects, each musical milestone agitates a practical need to marry it with new art.
