Gain More Press, Grow Your Fan Base & Earn More Money with a Video Press Kit Produced by Audio Crush PR and Mavrik Studios
Your band isn’t boring, but your promotional strategy is. If you’re sending out an overly adjective-filled press release, chances are you’re not even putting the receiving music editor to sleep as they read it–because they’re not reading past the first sentence. They’ve already moved onto the next e-mail from another band. And that band just landed itself a feature because aforementioned music editor just WATCHED the press release in the form of a video EPK.
Video EPKs provide an in-depth look at your band by incorporating live footage, member interviews, music videos, behind the scenes action, in-the-studio recording and more, just like this one from Universal Republic act Cash Cash (www.tinyurl.com/CashCashEPK) created by Audio Crush PR and Mavrik Studios.
If your band resides in the New Jersey/New York area or will be passing through on tour, contact AudioCrushPR@gmail.com for details on how to get your own cost-effective video EPK and gain more press, grow your fan base and earn more money.
MUSIC EDITORS PREFER VIDEO EPKs:
“I think EPKs are great. I can tell you as an editor – most assignments I dish out come from EPKS or just well written emails from bands and small PR firms. I can’t remember the last time I assigned something from a padded envelope.”
-Seth Werkheiser, Editor, NoiseCreep (AOL)
“Myspace is a mess (even with those annoying custom layouts), bandcamp.com has very limited features, other websites may not get the traffic/plays you’d want to represent your band with… EPK’s are definitely the way to go.”
- Matt Lucich, NJUnderground.com
“I receive so many press releases a day, it’s impossible to read through each one. I’d absolutely love to receive video pitches! If I can click on a link to show me a bands live performance and get information about the band directly from them, it would make my job easier and reading through emails a lot more fun! ”
-Annie Reuter, YouSingIWrite.com
VIDEO EPKS ALLOW YOU TO:
BE SEEN AND HEARD. Performance and studio footage are both candid and captivating. Give the gatekeepers a glimpse at just how talented you are.
BE UNDERSTOOD. It’s much easier to keep your quotes in context when you don’t worry about how your tone is conveyed in writing.
BE YOU. Does your drummer have a signature stick-twirl? Singer a sexy sneer? Let the cameras catch it. It’s the best way to portray your band not only as special as a whole, but also as the sum of it parts.
BE ALL OVER THE INTERNET: Post your video EPK on your Web site and social networking pages and have your street team distribute it across the Internet.
BE PREPARED: Happen to just run into an A&R guy? All you need to do is whip out your smart phone and play the video EPK for them on the spot!
BE INTERNATIONAL. Video EPKs take your personality and performances to music writers and executives in other countries even when you can’t get there. It’s the most professional way to showcase your band. You can even mail it out as a DVD.
